Sad News.

Whilst on our way up to Fairport's Cropredy Convention we lost the last of our Rattus shipmates. He passed into the next world whilst sleeping. He's now with Nobby, his brother, getting into all kinds of mischief, no doubt. I hope there are not too many electical cables to chew on, or cats to chase them, or small holes to get stuck in on the other side. Tain reached the grand ratty age of 2 years and 8 months (by my reckoning) and I found him with a smile on his face, so dying in your sleep can't really be that bad.

My nobby and Tain, together again. We miss them both... but at least all my food is my own now!

Oh, this is a lovely post. I suspect that those two rat mates had a very special life with you!

Hope Fairport were still rocking! Any pics?

They did.

And yes, Fairport rocked. I just need to resize the photos and I'll post them. :)

Have not been to Cropredy for years but this brings back memories of the lovely atmosphere (and the "best Festival Loos in the country"!)

Thanks for the memory.

Ah yes, the loos!

Some rather odd people got a little upset that the toilets kept getting cleaned...

Loved reading about your rats. We have one that's very similar and whose sister passed over to the big rat kingdom in the sky when she was just over a year old. Burned herself out, we think, because she was over-active. This one, Bubbles (her sister's name was Squeak) is almost 2 and still going strong. Very timid though, so the complete opposite of her sister.

Rats are such wonderful creatures with more personality than you can shake a very long barge pole at. When we first built the boat we tried to rat proof it so we could free range Nobby and Tain, but Nobby kept finding his way into the bilge (followed by his brother). It was great watching them and the acrobatics involved, but then we discovered they would only come back out of the bilge for chocolate! Clever little devils! I really miss them both.
